Case Studies: Bulk outloading upgrade system

Carrs Billington Agriculture LTD ~ Lancaster Mill

In 2006, Pace Projects was responsible for the projects of a Bulk Outloading upgrade system for the newly acquired Carrs Billington Agriculture LTD (CBAL) ~ Lancaster mill.

Before the installation of the new Bulk Outloading System, the mill at Lancaster was averaging about 60 Tonnes per Hour (TPH) throughput from its bulk outloading line.

With the newly installed Outloading system, we have been informed that approximately 300 TPH throughput is now being achieved at present. That’s a 500% increase in the outloading capacity compared to the previous system.

Pace Projects designed, manufactured and installed 2 Bulk outloading lines. Using state of the art 3-Dimensional engineering design package. This gave the customer to view the preliminary arrangement before the job was complete. Almost making the project come to life. Please see photographs and computer aided drawings.

2 Screens from Mogensen were used on the bulk outloading lines at Lancaster they were the model - C2024.

The C2024 screen is powered by two Invicta Type BLz 40-35/4 rotary electric vibrators, each rated at 1800 watts.

The vibrators are mounted in line with linked shafts and generate a rotary motion.

The screens are fully dust-proofed and were supplied with flexible couplings for connection to the static chute-work.

The C2024 screen is a two-deck, 2 metre-wide machine and is designed in this instance to discharge cleaned 14mm material from the top deck and the smaller pellets from the lower deck.

Fines pass through both decks and are recycled.

When pellets are being screened, any stray 14mm rolls present in the feed are removed by the top deck and are also recycled.

No mesh change is needed whatever the product being out-loaded.

Another component that has been beneficial to the outloading scheme are the belt conveyors. The 2 belt conveyors deigned, manufactured and installed by Pace Projects move along the weighbridge on runners, they are also reversible. This means that the outloading wagon can pull onto the outloading weighbridge and remain stationary through the whole process of the outloading stage. The belt conveyors can be moved and reversed, while still outloading, filling all compartments of the wagon without the drive ever having to move his vehicle.
